Ok guys, I have lower back problems. And this week, I did not listen to my body, and sprained my lower back and hip. I needed to rest my body, but I didn’t. Not to worry, I’ve learned my lesson.
My chiropractor recommended that I do stretches and not allow myself to get tight. I asked him if I could do Yoga, and he said as long as I didn’t over do it, to go for it.
Thank goodness for YouTube. Among the nonsense, you do find very useful things. And I found Yoga nirvana in Yoga with Adriene. She has a video for lower back pain, and I wanted to share it with you:
I would say I’m around a mid to high fitness level, and these moves were pretty simple. But guyz, oh guyz, it felt SO GOOD! It really helped my lower back and it helped keep me loose.
Let Adriene tell you a little about herself:
Hi there! My name is Adriene Mishler and I was born and raised in Austin, TX. (Cue the Texas Fight song as played by a chorus of beautiful Japanese flutists.) I’m a vegetarian who likes BBQ sauce, bluebonnets, antiques and vintage clothes. I have an affinity for children and animals. I love Rumi and Rodeos. I’m a professional actor in film, commercial and theater and I teach performance, movement and yoga for all ages. I love my family, my friends, my community and I am smiling as I write this. Yoga is really the art of waking up. Getting back to the true you. It can be that simple. Yoga offers up a way for us to see a world that is working for you instead of against you. Yoga reminds me that everything is connected so we must live, act, dance, breathe with awareness. If the journey really is the reward, then by golly I choose to enJOY the journey. I hope you will join me… read on

I tend to get lower back pain when I do insanity, probably because of bad form. Thanks for the info! Great post!
Yes form is important. Specially when squatting, and doing burpees. I hope this helps you as much as it helps me!
You’re so right! When I first started working out I didn’t even realize I had bad form, until I actually did a squat correctly and it hurt like a b—. I’m glad I fixed my form early though, otherwise I wouldn’t be getting results and also I probably would have seriously injured myself. And this post sure did help a lot!
Keep up the great work! You’re blog is awesome!! 💜
Thank you so much! We share what we know for you because we are you. Regular women trying to better ourselves.
Form is critical and that’s something everyone eventually learns. When the first correct squat happens its like your eyes open for the first time. Its like OMG, yes I get it now. We still need to take care of ourselves. Yoga has been helping me and helps me for form as well. Keep up the amazing work and if you ever want to share your results with us, shoot us an email nerdandlace@gmail.com 😉
Will do!!! 😄
