I have not done a book review in a long while. So you know, I must have something good in hand. Let’s get to it!

Vaughn is a grouch. He hates his team. Hates Chicago. And they hate him back. All he wants is to play along side of his bestfriend in Oregon. But there he was waiting for the end of the season and contract.

There’s only one person he didn’t hate. And she walked out on him after one steamy night.

Natalie, aka Allie, loves hockey. But will never date a hockey player. She’s lived in the shadow of her older brother’s Greg, hockey career. She’s sacrificed so much because hockey was his priority. And that became her family’s ambition. His career. Neglecting anything and everything to do with her.

She understood the life of a hockey wife or girlfriend. And that life wasn’t for her. She wanted to be someone’s priority and not an after thought. Is that too much to ask?

She’s also a hot blooded woman, and all her lady parts pointed toward Vaughn. Bow chicka wow wow.

Did I mention that Vaughn is Greg’s nemesis? Yup, he is! And their rivalry started back when they were in high school.

But even with knowing all of this, they had one single night in Vancouver. Afterwards, she walked away. And they never expected to see each other again. Until he was traded to the Slayer’s. And that’s where all the fun starts.

Allie and Vaughn’s relationship is not only heart melting. But also steamy in the best way possible.

Mira Lyn has been a personal favorite author for years. Reading this story made me feel the same exact way I felt when I first dicovered her book ‘Once Is Never Enough‘. Which, I’ve read a million times.

Thank you for adding a new book boyfriend to my list. Vaughn is MINE, keep off! And thank you for creating genuine characters and story lines that don’t make me roll my eyes.

But more importantly, after years of annoying Mira, I AM FINALLY A CHARACTER IN ONE OF HER BOOKS!

OMG!!! And the fact that she named my “husband” Doug doesn’t even bother me… much.

Ok, on a serious note , and I am not being completely biased. I LOVED this story for so many reasons. One of those is that Allie gives herself her place. She’s been pushed aside all her life, and she’s had enough of that nonsense. She wants to be with someone that values her. Girl, yas!

For the rest, you’ll have to read the book to understand.

I give this Dirty Secret, 5 Nerd Glasses out of 5. You’ll laugh, your heart will melt, and you’ll fan your face a few times. More men should be like Vaughn.
