BADgal BANG! Mascara by Benefit

I am a mascara junkie. I buy them all and try them all.

Benefit is one of those brands I’ve always loved. And they’ve proven to know what they are doing when it comes to brows and mascaras. So when they release a new mascara, I blindly purchase it. So I picked up their brand new BADgal BANG! to try out.

One of my favorite things Benefit does is they have their mascaras available in two sizes; Regular and a Mini. It helps not only when you are in a budget, but also you don’t need to commit to a full product you may not end up liking. This is why, I picked up the mini. I have commitment issues… apparently.

Their website claims:

BADgal BANG! 36 HOUR* FULL-BLAST volumizing mascara creates MASSIVE volume without weighing down lashes. The gravity-defying formula contains aero-particles, one of the lightest known materials, derived from space technology. This innovative intense pitch black mascara layers easily for bigger & BIGGER impact. Its custom big Slimpact! brush is streamlined to reach root-to-tip, corner-to-corner, upper & lower lashes for BIG VOLUME WITH 360° REACH!

It’s supposed to be smudge-proof, and water-resistant. And during their testing:

  • 90% saw dramatic volume
  • 94% said it instantly lifted lashes
  • 92% said it lengthened lashes

Ok mascara, I am on to you. You sound WAY too good to be true.

I have now been been using it every day single day for a full week and here what I think one bullet point at a time:

Did I see experience dramatic volume? Volume as in length, ABSOLUTELY! Volume as in fullness? Not at all my lashes don’t look fluffy and full. But I loved that, while I already have long lashes, this mascara defined every single hair!

Did I experience instantly lifted lashes? YES! I didn’t even need to curl them.

Did my lashes appeared lengthened? Not necessarily. My lashes are already this long. What it did was to defined them and made them look dramatic and fabulous.

And while it is smudge-proof, and water-resistant, once it dries it flakes through out the day I’ve never had a mascara do this before. See the picture below.

Now, let’s take a moment and talk about the application brush. The design is pretty brilliant. It has that cone like effect that grabs every hair. Even lashes you had NO idea you had.

Did I put it through my gym test? You know I did. Its not a complete review if I didn’t tell you how it did through my hot sweaty mess. It didn’t smudge. But the flaking did get worst.

How easy was it to remove? Pretty easy. I used my Garnier Micellar Water All-in-1 Mattifying (the green one). The tricks is to pressed the soaked cotton (I use squares) over the lashes for about 10 seconds before attempting to wipe it off. And then repeat the process until  your lashes are mascara free.

Final thoughts? This mascara does exactly what it says and it’s at an affordable price; Regular: $24.00 USD – Mini: $12.00 USD.

Do I recommend it? While I LOVE how it displays the length of my lashes, the fall out it’s horribly annoying and I am constantly checking myself in the mirror. Honestly, this is the only thing that stops me from adding it to my list of favorite. Has anyone else tried it and experienced the same thing?

If you’re wondering what my top five mascaras are, here you go.

If you try BADgal BANG! let me know what you think. If not, share with me what’s your favorite mascara. I need new ones to try!
