A DEE REVIEW

Fair warning, this is a long review.

When I opened this series, I had no clue what I was in for. I had never read a motorcycle club (MC) series before. But since I was an original fan of the show Sons of Anarchy, I thought I knew what I was in for… boy was I wrong!

Toss everything that you know about MC’s out the window before diving in. Any preconceptions really don’t apply. Besides the motorcycles and turf wars, TV vs book MC’s aren’t much a like. This is what I have always imagined a real outlaw MC was like without the over dramatization from Hollywood.

I don’t know why, I expected to open this series, and close it within minutes. Did I do that? No because here I am sitting writing this long winded review. I guess it’s because I am more of a cowboys (NOT the football team) kind of girl. But I am happy to announce, I am now also an MC girl. A FFMC girl.

It’s hard, no pun intended, for me to tackle what to discuss first. So let’s take it back to the beginning.

In HARD you meet FFMC leader Nick Navarro aka Crip and reporter Peyton Price. He’s an asshat, and she’s an adrenaline junky.

What I love about Nick is that he is honest to a fault. He tells you how he feels and he doesn’t give a damn if he hurts your feelings. It is what it is. Let’s be honest here, people like that make you want to punch them in the face. Yet, at the same time, it’s so nice to read a man like him. After all, isn’t that what we want from one? Complete honesty? It was a revelation when he tells Peyton to shut up because he wants to get down and dirty with her. I was riding the Subway reading at the time but all I wanted to do was toss my hands in the air and scream, YES, you go on and tell her! Why can’t men be more like Nick?! No BS, no beating around the bush, just this is what I want right now. I mean really, all men should be thinking WWNVD – What Would Nick Navarro Do?

Then we have Peyton, a woman on a mission. I love her spirit. And in this book, her spirit and soul gets challenged and tested in ways a lot of us will never understand. From loosing her mother at a young age, to being ridiculously attracted to a man that could possibly be a crazed killer and a criminal. I mean, what’s a girl to do?

You also meet Pee Bee, FFMC’s Sargent-at-Arms. He is Nick’s right hand and best-friend. Pee Bee is the kind of man that people cross the street to try to avoid. Not only is he Green Giant tall, he’s just menacing. And lord, you do not want to get on his bad side. I mean you really don’t. Let’s just say he is extremely creative in finding ways to deal with people that does him or his people wrong.

HARD took me to a place where I needed to close my kindle and step away. Seriously, the book put me on time out… so obviously you have- NO! You NEED to read it.

Then we have the second book in the series, ROUGH which is Pee Bee’s book.

Since we already met Pee Bee, let’s talk about Tegan. I love her. I love that she is tiny but mighty. She doesn’t take Brad’s, Pee Bee’s actual name, bull crap and puts him in his place without even saying a cuss word. She’s a fireball and doesn’t allow him to walk all over her no matter how big and intimidating he is.

Contrary to popular belief the star of the show is not Pee Bee but his father, Bradley. Between you and I, to me, this book is a love story between Tegan and Pee Bee BUT also her love story with Bradley. How they grew to respect, care, and love for each other. How she came to gain the father she never had, and also falling in love for the first time in a non-romantic way. It made me ugly cry for an hour. So have a box of tissues on stand-by. You’ll thank me later.

Bradley was inspired by Scott’s late father. And although I never met the man, I feel the world has lost an incredible person and my beating heart misses his presence in this world. I can’t stop crying as I write this. This world needs more men like him. Men of integrity and dignity. Real men. So now I say, WWBD – What would Bradley do? 

Both of these books are completely different. The Pee Bee from HARD is NOT the same one from ROUGH. You get two completely different sides of him. And I love that it almost makes you forget what a psycho Pee Bee could be. So yes, you could certainly read each of them as a stand alone. But I mean, why would you want to do that? You need to read both.

I want to take a moment and thank Scott for being a brain ninja and a destroyer of feels. I hate you. I did not expect the roller coaster of emotions these books put me under. But I wouldn’t change them for the world. I laughed out loud on the bus and Subway. I was emotionally stunned. And I ugly cried. Isn’t that the recipe for perfect books? I dare say, yes!

Scott Hildreth is like a dom that will put you through hell, but gives amazing after care and mends your broken heart; leaving you whole and complete. Then you find yourself saying, thank you sir may I have another? And all of this is my crazy way of saying, he is an amazing author and completely gifted. You need to read the FFMC series like right now.

No, really get it today. Because Cholo is coming! Look out for DIRTY coming January 16th!

Is it really necessary for me to say that I give it 5 Nerd Glasses out of 5? No, I didn’t think I needed to. But yes that’s what I am rating the series.

Can’t wait for Cholo! The first 4 chapters broke my heart… I can’t wait!
