Do we have a treat for you for on this Wedding Wednesday!
As you guys may have read me saying before, I love individuality and free spirit designs. This is why I am a bit obsessed with Houghton NYC. Designer Katharine Polk is an innovator and a visionary. She is a woman that marches to the beat of her own drum, and I love her so much for standing out with her own voice.
ABOUT THE BRAND:
Houghton, the chic, edgy and luxurious designer ready-to-wear line, designed by Malibu native Katharine Polk, debuted at Lincoln Center with its Fall Winter 2012 Collection. Houghton has succeeded in blurring the lines between day and evening, every day and wedding day. Its simple, timeless, silhouettes have been embraced by women for all occasions. Gowns designed with brides in mind have been worn by major celebrities on the Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and movie premiere red carpets while Houghton’s RTW collections have become best sellers in the bridal market.
The Fall/Winter 2017 collection was christened the “Not Your Baby” Collection. Featuring flowing Chantilly lace slip dresses, off-the-shoulder silk gowns, high-low pastel tulle skirts and embroidered sequin bandeau sets as well as cashmere wide leg suits. It also features looks for the adventurous bride, including a selection of dusty rose, lilac and mint green statement pieces, custom stretch crushed velvet with curled sequins, fur, suede and leather. Highlights include intarsia slogan sweaters, a color blocked Mongolian fur motorcycle jacket, periwinkle suede jogging pants, hand painted logo moto jackets and a blush and gold jacquard, gypsy-inspired flowing gown.
And today I’ll share with you my top pics.
I did mention that Katherine is an innovator right? Well let me prove that to you. When we were invited to view the collection during October’s Bridal Market, we were actually invited to a movie premiere titled Houghton Girl.
This movie was a moving piece following 10 women in their every day struggle with self-image, acceptance, and life. This video moved me to tears, and I want to share that with you.
And I’ll end today’s blog with saying, with all my imperfections, I love who I am. I am a Houghton Girl.
XOXOXO!
Dee
