Valentine’s DIY Custom Coffee Mugs

Happy Valentine Fri-yay y’all!

We’ve seen them. You know, those super cool mugs all over Pinterest that have funny sayings on them.

Everyone claims they are SO easy to make and I’ve seen dozens of tutorials that make it look effortless. So for Valentine’s Day, I wanted to make some for my girls. Tonight, we are having our girls only Valentine’s Date and I wanted to give them something. And this was such a brilliant idea since we are always sharing pictures of funny mugs we want.

And guess what? I did it all using one Sharpie oil based paint market. No baking necessary.

Note, because my girls will be seeing this blog, the mugs showed here, I made for myself. But tomorrow, I’ll share the ones I made for them on our Instagram.

What you need:

The first thing I did was to wash the mugs and remove all stickers. You know those store shelves are dusty. I can’t gift dusty items! #maybe

As the mugs dried, I opened the marker. You’ll need to shake it and press the tip for a minute or so before the ink flows.

Then grab a mug and just write on it. The ink dries really fast, so if you make a mistake you’ll need to move at Flash Gordon speed to erase it. See what I mean, took me too long to redo my Whiskey mug (my Whieksy looks drunk 😂):

Honestly, it’s that easy. You don’t need to bake it or anything along those lines. Once it dries, it’s waterproof.

Finally, I wrapped up the Valentine’s mugs for my girls in cute baggies and tissue paper. And included candy hearts too! It’s Valentine’s Day, and candy hearts are a necessity.

What do y’all think? Have you made your own mugs? Tag us on Instagram, we’d love to see. 😍

Happy Valentine’s Day!
