Before we start, please know that I don’t dye my hair. I don’t use hair spray, nor gel, or even mouse. I don’t blow it out, and using a flat iron will take too long. I have way to much hair for that nonsense. I like my hair natural but it can get unruly. The wild mane needs to be tame some how right?
So how do I keep my hair under control? Simple. I use old fashion Brush Rollers. In my opinion, these are the best rollers ever created.
My ritual: on Saturdays, after getting I get home from the gym, I wash my hair, and deep condition it. With my hair still wet, I evenly comb through argan oil, and them roll up my hair. Normally I let my hair air dry, but if I’m going out Saturday night, I’ll speed up the process with my hair dryer. This is the only time I use a hair dryer. When I take them off. My hair looks and feels bouncy and beautiful. These rollers are so comfortable, I sleep with them and it doesn’t hurt.
Pardon my blurry Subway selfie.
Now I do go to the gym six times a week, and I sweat. A lot. Because of the way my hair is, I can only wash it once a week. How do I maintain my locks under control? Before hitting the gym I spray dry shampoo on the root of my hair. I comb it up into a high bun and secure it with large bobby pins without ridges. When I get home, and after my shower, I comb my hair back into a bun and sleep with it that way.
I don’t know how true this is, but I have heard that they are not the best for coarse hair. If you do have coarse hair, I recommend straightening it before putting rollers on.
I found them at my local Beauty Supply for about $4 for a large pack. But I did find a Conair set of 36 for $4.88 at Walmart.
