Oscar winning costume designer, Sandy Powell, has done it again. She designed, a breath taking gown, for the upcoming live action version of Cinderella.
Earlier, I was at my favorite JC Penny on 34th & 6th Ave, NYC. When I was coming up from the subway and my eyes landed on this blue masterpiece.
How I wished I had had my Nikon DSLR with me! I had to settle for the camera on my Samsung Galaxy S5, which for a phone camera is pretty good. But nothing beats the detail the DSLR lens catches. This picture does not do this dress justice. Not even a little bit. The detail that went into creating such a work of art, is mesmerizing. I was that weirdo standing there for a good ten minutes looking at every detail; the crystals on the ball gown, and there had to be at least 10 layers in that massive skirt. Yes, I’m in love!
I did see this dress in the trailer and promo pictures, but to see it with my own eyes, it’s a remarkable experience. And for someone that loves dresses and gowns as much as I do, I can’t eve describe how I felt. I only went in to look for sports bras, and was given a pretty amazing treat.
Not familiar with British costume designer Sandy Powell? She only won an Oscar for the costume design for a tiny movie called, Shakespeare In Love. Amazing isn’t she?
If you’re near the JC Penny on 34th, please do yourself a favor and stop by to see this dress. It’s right in the middle of the escalators.
In the mean time, here is the trailer of the upcoming, Walt Disney’s Cinderella. Enjoy!
