MY THOUGHTS

When I was approached to review an interracial book, I cringed. Why? Because, I don’t care what race someone is or sexual orientation people are, love is love. And when it comes to the matters of the heart that stuff shouldn’t matter. And to me they don’t.

I went into this book very cautiously. And you know what? I’m SO happy I read it. Because I discovered that Mika Jolie, the author, is very much like I am. Yes the two protagonists are from different cultures, and extremely different backgrounds. But race was never the factor in this story. It was love.

In this book you meet Liliana and Adam. Lily, a smart and sexy school teacher. Adam a wealthy F1 driver and adrenaline junkie. Flash back a year back, and they meet one night in Martha’s Vineyard. Insert Lily with a broken heart, and add Adam’s sexy self and they are match filled with sexiness and passion. And that was their agreement, a no strings attach kind of relationship. Just pure utter ecstasy and pleasure.

For a year that agreement suited them just fine and dandy. However… yes there’s always a however. Through a series of freaky events, they get pregnant and that’s where all the fun starts. There’s deep dark, and extremely sad, secrets. There’s also, amazing characters that I can’t wait for them to get their own books. Yes I have made demands from Mika for books to be written now. Like now #sorrynotsorry.

What I like about Lily is that she is strong but shows her softer side. And although, she does easily bend for Adam, she sticks to her guns on what she wants. And does not settle. I love that about her. Stick to your guts and get your man #zsnap.

What I like about Adam is that, he’s very protective of those he loves. Here is a seriously broken man, that will do anything to protect those he loves, specially from himself. Because he cares so much he makes the terrible mistakes of shutting everyone out, Lily in particular. And he does it so well that I wanted to punch him. Hug him, and then punch him again.

I couldn’t put this book down. Every moment I had, I found myself reading it. This is the kind of book that makes me happy to be a book nerd.
