It’s spring time! Technically. It’s still freezing cold here in the New York City. Regardless, is time to spice up our makeup, and add pops of color.
I know someone that claims to be a mermaid and she inspired me to try this eye makeup. My idea was to recreate the colors of a mermaid’s tail on my eyelids.
In order to create this look, I used eye shadows in green, blue, purple, and brown. Also, used a couple of different makeup brands. So please, allow me to break it all down for you.
For this look, I used two brushes. The smaller side, of the double ended brush, that came with my Electric palette from Urban Decay. The other is Morphe B81 tapered blender. These are two of my favorite brushes. They should be on everyone’s brush collection.
First, I started with my NYX Shadow Base. I love this eye primer! The white helps the color pop; making the shadow brighter and colorful. To apply, I used my finger tip and spread it all over my lids.
Now on to the good stuff, the shadow. I started with the darkest color; Shimmering Onyx by Cover Girl. Yes, it’s black, but it has has a lovely shimmer to it. It is also works great when you mix with other colors. I started by applying it in the inner and outer corners of my eyes. Then, I blended in Positive from Lancôme, but only around the edges.
Now let’s add some color. I absolutely love my Electric palette from Urban Decay. You can accomplish so many looks with just a single palette. So naturally when it came time to pick the color for my mermaid eyes, I reached for this palette. I applied Gonzo all over the lid. Then layered Fringe only on the center of the lids.
I followed by mixing Chaos with Freak and applied in the outer corners of my eyes. And using my Morphe brush, I blended everything together. With this brush you don’t need to force the blend; it does the work for you.
To make my eyes pop, I brushed right under the water line, some Scene from Lancôme. Then I ended up the makeup with some Kat Von D Tattoo Liner cat eyes.
To finish up my look, I tossed on my fabulous lashes from Absolute New York in EL107. All their lashes are made with human hair. So sorry for taking this picture of the package after I had applied the lashes. As for lash adhesive, I only use DUO Striplash White/Clear. I don’t purchase anything else.
Top your false eyelashes with the some mascara, and your mermaid eyes are done!
