It’s very rare when an author grabs me and sucks me in. I can count those that have, in one single hand. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll read anything, except books written in the first person. I just can’t get past one paragraph. But for me to actually fall in love with an author, it takes a lot.
Every so often, I go through the free books on my Amazon Kindle App and download a bunch that look promising. Some are awful, and I completely understand why they are free. No one wants to pay for them. Others are entertaining. And then there’s this rare occasion where I find myself reading an entire series within a week. This is exactly what happened to me with Shelly Laurenston’s Magnus Pack.
If the series title doesn’t give it away, it’s about shape shifters. Unfortunately there’s no mermaids, but this series has everything else! Warewolves, tigers, interracial couples, sexy leading men, and bad ass brilliant women.
Let me give you a blurp on each (in reading order):
All Zach Sheridan ever wanted was to become Alpha Male of his Pack and to be left alone. What he definitely didn’t need in his life was some needy female demanding his attention. What he never saw coming was the vicious, scarred female who not only demanded his attention but knew exactly how to get it.

It’s those damn stockings that get me every time. They have this sexy little line down the back and I can’t help but stare at her legs…constantly. And you’d think she’d be all over me like every other female in the Seattle area. I’m young, good looking, and one day I’ll be Alpha Male of my family’s Pack. But Professor Irene Conridge acts like I don’t even exist. How is that possible? Now she’s got enemies coming out of the woodwork and I have to protect her. Why? Because that’s the kind of man I am. Yes, I am that amazing. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that while I work to secure her safety, she’ll be hanging out at my house. That’s hours…days even that I’ve got Irene Conridge right where I want her.
I’ve read this series twice because I genuinely love it. I enjoy the diversity and how it was the beginning of so much more. Shelly’s Pride Stories are just as wonderful! I’m sort of in love with Lock, a bear. Yeah you read that right, a bloody bear! Then she also has the Long Island Coven. And writing as GA Aiken, her Dragon Kin series.
These books are entertaining, funny, sexy as all hell, and make you wish you could toss your head back and howl at the moon. In my opinion, these are some of the best shifter books ever written. If you enjoy books in this genre, give The Magnus Pack a try. You may be pleasantly surprised.
