In my Leprechaun Edition of Nerd Corner, I bring you my favorite green app; Hopstop.
Never heard of Hopstop? You should. No commuter or tourist should not have this app on their smartphones. It tells you how to get to point A to point B without getting lost.
Let’s face it, unless you take every line of the subway every day, there’s no reason for you to know the lines and stops. That’s where this app comes it. It helps you look good at pretending you do.
A bit more information on this amazing application:
HopStop.com provides free customized public transit directions, as well as other related features and information relevant to public transit.
Users can get step-by-step public transit, walking, taxi, biking, and hourly car rental directions based on the travel options selected (departure time, transportation mode, more walking vs. more transfers, etc.). Other major functions include Nearby Stations, which allows users to find subway or bus stops near an address, as well as providing transit maps and schedules. HopStop also calculates calories burned and per passenger carbon emissions savings for each transit route.
The City Guide helps users find attractions, bars, restaurants, hotels, shopping areas, and other businesses. The Community tab offers users the ability to plan a trip with multiple destinations, including City Guide listings and custom locations.

I remembered when I first discovered this service. Back then, there were no apps and it was only providing Subway information. It’s nice to see how much they’ve grown.

Have you ever gotten lost in the subway? Where did you end up?
