The Day of the Dead is November 2nd (thanks to Lou for the correction). I’ve always been fascinated with the face painting and decorations for this celebration. The colors are usually very vibrant and they just look awesome. And I am not a gal that likes gore, however I find them truly beautiful.
For some odd reason, this Halloween, Day of the Dead is everywhere. I was walking past Beacon’s Closet on 13th and look at their awesome window display:
Then I walked down to Union Square and the Strawberry in the corner has a similar theme goings. And on twitter, different people keep discussing going to random Day of the Day theme parties.
Maybe it’s become popular because zombies are in, and the undead are “hip”? I don’t know. But I decided to share with you, some of my favorite theme face painting. Hope you enjoy them!

I am glad you brought this subject up; however, let me first say that Day of the Dead is November 2nd. The day after Halloween (Nov. 2st) is the day Catholics commemorate the loss of children (All Souls’ Day).
