The Best of Times and Not So Much…

I have two teenage girls. Anyone with teenagers will understand the joy and the angst of that, hence the title. And if you don’t right away, just stop and think about the time you were a teenager.

This is a phase of my life I couldn’t wait for, now I’d like a rewind about 10 years or fast forward 10 years not picky as to which. Wait! I take that back fast-forward.  I can’t do this twice.  Thank God they’re back to back in age, so each phase is close or sometimes at the same time.  Might not be fun but at least its done in one fell swoop.

Anyway one’s driving and the other one is right behind her.  Now I don’t just worry about their friends, the texting or the Internet now I have to worry about them on the roads with other drivers. And don’t get me started about boys.  That’s a whole separate article.  Is it any wonder I can’t sleep?  As a result I get a lot of writing done.

Now for the good.  They are intelligent, beautiful, full off themselves young women who believe the world is a place to serve their needs. LOL! I don’t blame them. If I were the world I’d shuddered.  They are my pride and joy.  But yeah, every now and then I do have to sit down with a glass of wine, put my feet up, lay my head back and groan.

Now here’s a peep at something I wrote while they were away at school.

LIVING ON THE EDGE
Paranormal romance with a bite
Coming Sept. 30th from Red Rose Publishing

Do you trust your instincts?

As one of the few female bounty hunters in the country and with a nickname like Edge, she enjoyed living on the edge and always got her man. One way or another.  As an executioner for her shifter clan she was relentless, but finding a mate was not something on her radar, having to hunt him down and execute him even less so.

But could she trust her instincts?

Ethan Graves was a hunted man, not quite a man but a Leo of his kind.  When he found out he was hunted by a sexy bounty hunter, he let himself be caught.  He just had to convince her of his innocence before she killed him, then confess to wanting her as his mate.

But could he trust his instincts?

So much to do so little time.

    LaVerne,

Do your girls read your work, and if so, what is their opinion of your writing?

I got a comment from my niece the other day humorously saying she was shocked after she read my book.

Are your friends and family surprised when they read your books?

Living on the Edge could be about you, your daughters and the car! LOL!

I am couting down the days for the book. Great story as always, and love the hero. YUMMY!

    1. Hi Chicki,

Not exactly. I let them read the first few chapters of some of my fantasy works or select chapters, and they’ve loved what they’ve read. But are forbidden to read my books until they’re eighteen. LOL! They’re also both excellent writers and are taking creative writing classes in high school.

  3. Hi Steph,

LOL! The title yeah. That’s true.

  4. OMG as the mom of a 13 year old I think the trouble began the moment she learned to say “mom can I have”. You drive and you write awesome!

For a second when I read this I thought you were a mom of 13 kids. I had a minor heart failure LMAO!

    The story sounds awesome LaVerne! Can we put him together, you know like in the 80’s movie Weird Science, and have him pet my hair {giggling}

    1. Thanks, Abigail. I recognize those words.

  6. Dee- LOL! If I could do that I’d patent the formula and make a fortune.

Yeah but the you have to give me a cut of that LOL!

      1. I think we’d have to cut Jimmy in on the action too cause I’d sure be using his DNA. LOL!

  7. Loved the blog, LaVerne! I have a four year old and 8 month old. I am so not looking forward to thier teenage years. My 4 year is already a lady lover. Ugh, it can only get worse from there. :o)

    1. Hi Yvonne- Thanks. Enjoy this age. Better yet take cute pictures of them now that will be embarrassing later to keep them in line when they’re older. LOL!

  8. Though you don’t even have to look past the cover to see that it’s HOT, I believe your book is already a super success, LaVerne. Best wishes for a future of many sales and many more book to come.
    Hugs
    Franny

  9. LaVerne, I totally understand where your going with teen-agers. I have a 16 yr old son (6’5″ and growing) and that’s difficult enough with just one. As you said, pride and joy and no matter how old they get they will always be your babies.
Your blog was great. So nice hearing another view on teenage years!

  10. Hi Franny- LOL! Thanks. And if Jimmy ever takes a bad picture I’d like to see it and still wouldn’t believe it. I’ve met the guy in person. LOL!

  11. Maggie- 6’5′ WHOA! My girls are 5′ 3′ and 5′ 5′ and I think that’s pretty much it. I’m 5′ 4′ I’d have a crick in my neck having to stare up at your kid. LOL! And yep no matter how tall or how old they are still our babies. And we don’t let them forget it.

  12. I have forbidden my kids from reading my next book and two of them are already over 18. It feels too weird, I feel like I’m watching a porno with them.
