Goodbye to the London Olympics

For seventeen days my TV hasn’t really been changed from NBC. Why? Because I was soaking in every moment of the 2012 London Summer Olympics as I could.

From opening to the closing ceremonies, I did my best  not to miss a beat. And I think I did a pretty good job.

During these past couple of weeks, I’ve cheered and rooted for those hard working athletes. And not just for the USA Team but for those underdogs and for those who’s stories that touched my heart.

I’ve fallen in love with sports and people I’ve never thought I would. From watching every single Beach Volley match to cheering on Croatia during their gold winning Men’s Water Polo match. To developing a massive crush on Oscar Pistorius of South Africa. Crying along with Jessica Ennis from England when she won gold. I’ve grown to admire the hard work of each individual that made their countries Olympic team. It felt more like the world came together to cheer on well deserving athletes, rather than country vs country.

With that said, I am beyond proud of Team USA. Further more, I am extremely proud of the women in Team USA. Out of the 46 gold medals won, 29 were by the ladies and they broke various world records in a wide range of sports. That’s something to be proud of! And just not only the USA women, this was the first Olympics that EVERY country has had a woman in their teams. That’s HUGE and like said before it’s something to be proud of.

These Olympics were filled with moments I’ll never forget, and I was happy to share them with good friends. When the Olympic Torch was turned off, I did shed a few tears. It was sad to see it all come to an end.

However, that was a heck of a “Welcome to Brazil” the people from Rio de Janeiro put on. Toss is some delicious samba, the stunningly beautiful Alessandra Ambrosio, and the soccer legend Pele, mix is all up and Rio is going to be one heck of a party. Yes, I am SUPER excited for it. So excited, I am thinking of saving up a small fortune and fly down south to catch some of the games. I do have four years to save up for it lol!

If you didn’t watch the London closing ceremony, you missed out of some pretty awesome moments. From the Stomp cast, hearing Wonderwall, to the Spice Girls reunion, MONTY PYTHON, and what I thought was the best part of it all, the Freddie Mercury’s hologram right before the surviving members of Queen brought down the house with Jessie J in ‘We Will Rock You’. I was trying to find the clip to share with y’all but I can’t :(. It goes to show what an amazing artist Freddie was that even from the grave, he rocked your face off \m/^_^\/m/

So with that I’ll leave you with today’s Song Of The Day: Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’. Here’s to Rio!
