My $15 find!

So I’m always complaining that there’s no actual good consignment shops in my area. Well ok let me rephrase that. There are no actual, inexpensive consignment shops in my area. The curse of living in the NYC area. There’s a billion stores all over Manhattan, but they swear that a broken chair that needs massive refurbishing is worth $100. I. Don’t. Think. So.

Today, as I was walking home from my usual Saturday morning ritual: bank, coffee, and beauty supplies, when I walked past this one store by my house I’ve never seen before. I must have walked by this place a hundred times, but I never noticed. But luckily today I did!

The place is piled with stuff but underneath stacks of boxes, they had chair after chair. I was in heaven because I LOVE old stuff and I was in desperate need of a chair for my desk. And TA-DA! Like a hidden jewel this is what I found for $15!

The wood is solid, I grew muscles just walking it a few blocks to my house, and sturdy so I don’t need to reinforce it. I gave it a good cleaning when I got home (and being that I watch Haunted Collector I rubbed salt on it. Make fun all you want but I’m taking NO chances). Now all I need to do is sand it down, paint it white (to match my desk), and change the material on the cushion. I may even add some wheels on the legs to make it easier to move around. AHHH! I’m so excited.

What do you  think? Have you ever bought at a thrift store? What hidden treasure have you discovered?
